Chhattisgarh – Tribes, Ancient Civilizations, Eroticism and Responsible Travel

February 12, 2015June 28, 2015 GauravAsia

“Be careful! Confirm if the area you are visiting is naxalite or not”, my sister tells me with a concerned look on her face when she comes to know that I am going to Chhattisgarh. Being a traveller, I know that every region in India is not what they show them to be in news […]

I remember the first time I visited Sikkim in 2012 I remember the first time I visited Sikkim in 2012. I took a public transport bus from Siliguri. The bus was carrying twice the capacity of people, sacs and crates of all kinds of goods, dogs, goats, bird cages, fruit baskets etc. I remember sharing a seat with two people and a goat. 🐐 After that, I came to Sikkim several times but avoided the public bus.

Fast forward to 2024, I am again in a public bus. The place is the same, staff is the same, but the buses have changed and so has the way they operate. Now you get a digital ticket on mobile phone with an allocated seat number, luggage goes in the boot, no one is sitting on the floor or the roof, and the animals (well maybe they are happy to walk rather than being stuffed into a bus). 15 minutes before departure you also get a reminder on the phone with driver’s and conductor’s names and phone numbers.

Long story short - Things have changed!
Reply to me on the poll below 😉 Do you think ‘Digital India’ has the power to empower?

In 2024, I complete 10 years of living in the hills.

No, I don’t live here permanently. Rather, I need a mix of hill and city life.

I am truly fortunate to have cut toxic people out of my life and moved on without anger, resentment, or regret. It is an outcome of years of relentless work on self to become better.

That’s it for today 😁

I haven’t been posting much or expressing much o I haven’t been posting much or expressing much on social media for the last few years. Perhaps, I have been in a phase of dwelling within. What I say and post has become more valuable for me over the years.
By the way, about the reel - If I rewind the memory reel 10 years and then look at the present, I got exactly what I asked for. #mountainlife
